Tommy Smith, the famous Liverpool FC defender has sadly passed away at the age of 74 in a Green Heys Care Home in the Crosby area of Liverpool.
After his youth career at Liverpool FC from 1960 to 1962, in 1962 Smith was then signed to Liverpool FC for his senior career and then debuted in 1963.
Smith made 638 appearances across his career and scored 48 goals for Liverpool Football Club in that time. He became close with the club’s manager, Bill Shankly and was classed as Liverpool’s original “hard man”.

After being diagnosed in October 2014 with Alzheimer’s disease, he became increasingly frail and passed away shortly after his 74th Birthday.
